Rung 1: paper-trade a tennis agent with Claude Desktop in 15 minutes

No exchange account, no API key, nothing to sign. You will connect Claude Desktop to our MCP server, ask it for today's edges, and record a paper order that states a fair price and a fee before it does anything. That is the whole discipline of trading, minus the money.

1
Download the server (Python 3.10+, no dependencies):
curl -O https://ipredictsport.com/mcp_server.py
python mcp_server.py --test
2
Register it with Claude Desktop. Edit claude_desktop_config.json (macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/, Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\) and restart Claude. python mcp_server.py --info prints this with your real paths filled in.

3
Ask for the board. In Claude: "Use get_betting_edges with min_edge_pp 8 and show me the three largest, with confidence." Claude calls the tool and returns a table with the model probability, the market price and the gap.
4
Place a paper order. "Place a paper limit order on the first one at the market price, with the model probability as the fair price, and tell me the fee." The tool refuses if no fair price is given, prints the maker fee (0.0175 × p × (1−p) per contract), sizes quarter-Kelly net of it, and writes the order to ~/.ipredict/paper_orders.jsonl. Ask "show my paper ledger" any time.
5
Read the refusals. Try an order with no fair price, or seven orders in a row. The exposure cap (25% of bankroll) and the missing-fair-price rule are the two mistakes that end most first bankrolls, and the tool will not let Claude make them.

What this taught

A trade is a price, a fair value and a fee, in that order. Everything else, including going live, is plumbing: to place a real order the same tool needs mode="live" and your Kalshi API key in the environment, which means an exchange account. That is rung 2 of the ladder, and it starts on the platforms page.

Where can an agent actually trade? Only where there is an API, and only the exchanges have one. See which platforms let an AI agent trade for you before you go live. Humans open accounts; agents trade. Never automate account creation or identity checks.

Disclosure: the Kalshi link is a partner link; we may earn a referral credit at no cost to you. 18+ on exchanges, 21+ at sportsbooks, state rules apply. Gambling problem? 1-800-GAMBLER. Paper first; the ledger, not the win rate, is the score.
